Obama: In His Own Words

What's more frightening than Jason on Friday the 13th? Mr. Obama on Friday, July 13th, 2012. On this day he went off the reservation (actually the teleprompter). This marks the day, in which we were able to peer into the soul of a socialist, the day in which the electorate got a clear view of what the president really thinks of capitalism. It's illuminating and illustrates his insight of how America's free enterprise system works. In case you missed it, here is what the president said at a campaign event in Roanoke, Virginia:

"There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me-because they want to give something back. They know they didn't-look, if you've been successful, you didn't get there on your own. You didn't get there on your own. I'm always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something-there are a whole bunch of hard working people out there."

"If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business-you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn't get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet."... Say what?! (If I'm the Romney campaign, I'm producing ads right now using the president's own words, no editing required.)

The interpretation is that Mr. Obama thinks there is no such thing as individual achievement or merit. All success is due to society's collective effort as manifested by the government. That private enterprise benefits from public goods, that government provides education and infrastructure, and thus entrepreneurs, investors and wealthy Americans shouldn't mind paying higher taxes for them. Hey Mr. President, I've got news for you... we paid for those roads, bridges, education and infrastructure from our hard work and tax dollars. I've got a business - and I did build it, I made that happen.

Let there be no mistake, Mr. Obama is essentially running not against Mitt Romney, but rather, against capitalism itself. Forget about hope and change, this campaign has become about fear and loathing. A loathing of the core of what America is all about; free enterprise, individual responsibility and American entrepreneurism (i.e. capitalism). He doesn't think much of American exceptionalism, rather, he believes that big government is the key to the American dream.

Interesting how the minions in his own party are now rushing to his defense, telling us that's not what he really meant. The problem with this is that it's his own words that betray him. Never in my life can I remember a sitting president demeaning success and vilifying American business and in the process insulting all Americans. Maybe it's because, he's never signed the front of a check, only the back of one. Maybe it's because, as a community organizer, he never really understood how capitalism works.
